Special Education Director- part-time The School- Bridge Boston Charter School is a comprehensive, full-service public school that opened in the fall of 2011 with K1 and K2 students. We now have 144 children enrolled in K1, K2, 1st, and 2nd grades for the [removed phone] school year, and will expand by a grade each year until we serve 335 students in grades K1-8. The Position- We are seeking a smart, problem-solving, self-reflective, and passionate Special Education Director for approx twelve hours per week in a comprehensive, full-service, new school to help meet the needs of traditionally underserved children in Boston, MA. The Special Education Director will report to the Director of Student Services and will collaborate closely with the Principal, teachers, and service providers. Compensation will be commensurate with background, requirements, and hours. The Special Education Director must ensure the smooth and effective administration of the Special Education Department. The ideal candidate will have Master's degree in Special Education and MA licensure as a Special Education Administrator At least 2 yrs of background in Special Education administration, preferably in an urban setting Excellent management expertise, and strong written and spoken communication abilities Excellent personal skills, flexibility, and willingness to be a team member Familiarity with the unique requirements of a charter school Duties will include Ensure that all aspects of the Special Education program (and 504 plans) meet federal and state regulations Maintain hard copies of all required documents in student files and ensure all necessary data is maintained in SEMS tracker Manage creation or compilation of documentation related to the DESE, Coordinated Program Review, and/or charter renewal Submit required data related to Medicare and SIMS according to established deadlines Distribute new documents to and review any changes to IEP or 504 with appropriate staff before the end of the school week or five school days Communicate regularly and effectively with Director of Student Services, Principal, Special Education Teacher/s, and Related Service Providers Collaborate with Director of Student Services and Principal to ensure appropriate testing materials and accommodations for standardized testing including WIDA- ACCESS Manage development of new IEPs (and 504 plans) as well as compliance with existing IEPs (and 504 plans) Coordinate scheduling of meetings, services, and evaluations Help to evaluate program effectiveness at regular intervals Bridge Boston Charter School does not discriminate on the basis of age, color, disability, national origin, race, religion, sex, gender identity or sexual orientation.
